Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, or more popularly known simply as Cristiano Ronaldo, is a Portuguese football forward that is arguably one of the best of his generation. He was born in Madeira, Portugal, to Jose Dinis Aveiro and Maria Dos Santos Aveiro. He has two sisters, Elma and Lilliana, and an older brother, Hugo. His father named him after Ronald Reagan, who was the U.S. President in 1985, the year Cristiano was born.

His first steps toward the world of football were for a small team in his hometown, the Andorinha, when he was eight. He eventually played for Sporting Lisbon, one of the biggest football clubs in Portugal. In his teens, he began to get attention due to his skill and prowess in the sport. One of the teams that noticed his potential was Manchester United, a team from England and signed him on for the team.
Ronaldo did not disappoint and showed excellent form and skill on the field. He had a brilliant debut; scoring 3 points for Manchester United and helping them take home the championship later on. As his career blossomed, and his popularity skyrocketed, so did his skills with the ball.

In 2009, Real Madrid paid United a whopping $131 million for a chance to have Ronaldo on their team. He continued to excel in football and received many awards in his prolific career. Among these include the FIFA World Player of the Year Award (2008 and 2013), the Ballon D’Or Award, and the UEFA Forward of the year.
